It’s official, you’ve made it to high school! Congratulations. The transition between middle school and high school is a big one, but with the right guidance and advice, it will be a breeze. Luckily, we have our amazing Link Crew leaders who will help you with the transition in the fall. In the meantime, I came up with a list of 5 things that will help ease your mind.

1. Ask For Help When You Need It

I know it can be nerve-racking and scary asking for help, but I highly recommend asking for it if you need it. The teachers and staff at Von will do their best to help you with whatever you need without any judgement. That is their job after all!

2. Stay Focused On Your Academics

Although it can be tempting to fall into drama and get distracted from your schoolwork, I highly recommend sticking to it. Your education is what really matters most and it will help set you up for success in the future. Make sure to stay organized and keep track of our assignments.

3. Be Friendly

I know it seems hard to make new friends, but it’s actually so much easier than it looks. It can seem super nerve racking, but just remember that all freshmen are new to the school as well and are just as nervous as you are. You are not alone!!

4. Get Involved

There are so many clubs, sports, and activities you can join and participate in at Von. Joining these can help you make new friends and they look great on your transcript for college. You can also build friendships and bonds with people that will last a lifetime!

5. Have Fun and Stay Positive

You are only a freshman in high school once, so have fun! Freshman year is by far one of the most exciting yet nerve racking years of your education, so staying positive will help you get through it much more smoothly.
